The successful applicant will learn all aspects of baking in stages such as

  • sweets
  • making and filling pies
  • mixing and working bread doughs
  • pastry making
  • morning oven shift
  • as well as other jobs including cleaning, presentation and customer service

A bakery apprenticeship is ideal for people who have a love for hands-on creative work and even a bit of science. There is plenty of variety, no day is the same - from making the breads to being the creative mind behind new bakery products, or designing and decorating a wide range of cakes and muffins. The learning opportunities are endless.

Piccolo Morso are looking for someone who enjoys making things, creating pleasure and someone wants to learn& take pride in their work.

You will need to be able to follow instructions, interested in learning and work well as part of a team.

Hours

Ngā Hāora  

This is a fantastic role for an early riser who wants to get a full day's work out of the way and still be able to get most of the afternoon sun. 

Shifts generally start at 3am so your own transport is important.

Qualification

Te Tohu  

New Zealand Certificate in Trade Baking (Craft) (Level 4) with strands in Bread, Cake and Biscuit, and Pastry

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Apply an understanding of the principles of baking science to the production of a wide range of commercial craft bakery products.
  • Apply quality control and waste reduction processes relevant to the commercial craft bakery, to ensure products meet industry standards.
  • Manage production planning to achieve production targets in a commercial craft bakery.
  • Comply with health and safety and hygiene standards to meet workplace and legislative requirements while producing a wide range of bakery products in a commercial craft bakery.
  • Meet productivity and quality requirements while producing a wide range of either bread or cake or  biscuits or pastry products.
