Home to the Guardian Bandsaw and the world’s first and only automated mussel opener, KANDO engineers work closely with industry leaders to discover and develop innovative ways to automate or improve manual, repetitive processes.
KANDO in Mt Wellington are now looking to take on a General Engineering Apprentice to develop and upskill their team and focus on building their capability.
Mō Te Huarahi
This is an entry level opportunity where you will be joining a great working culture, a very supportive and friendly team where everyone is willing to help out.
To start you’ll be inducted and go through the structure of the Apprenticeship. Everyday duties as part of the General Engineering Apprenticeship will include fabrication, welding, polishing and assembly of sheet metal components. You’ll be trained by a supportive Manager and team.

No pre-trade required for this entry level role, but you will need to demonstrate your passion for engineering and have some engineering aptitude. You’ll also need to bring the following –
Ngā Hāora
Hours will be discussed with you at interview with KANDO Innovation. Standard hours are, 8 per day, Monday to Friday, taken at anytime between 6.30am and 4pm.
Te Tohu
New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering(Trade) (Level 4) with strand in General Engineering
Graduates of the General Engineering strand will also be able to: - Build, maintain, and repair a broad range of machinery and equipment using skills including fitting, machining, fabrication and welding, with knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
