About the Opportunity

Mō Te Huarahi  

JMP have a well established apprentice training plan and are now ready for their next intake of apprentices to support their business.  This means you’ll get excellent training and support during your apprenticeship.  Starting in the workshop you will be supervised by an experienced and qualified engineer.

About You


JMP Engineering are looking for a team player with a passion for all things engineering.  To be successful in this apprenticeship you will need:

  • NCEA Level 2 ideally in Maths and English preferred but not essential – however good numeracy and literacy skills are required
  • Pre-trade would be advantageous but not essential
  • Evident passion for engineering
  • A positive attitude with determination and a willingness to learn
  • Pride in your work, excellent timekeeping and a team player


Ngā Hāora  

Hours will be discussed with you at interview with JMP Engineering. Standard hours are 7.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.  Some overtime available.


Te Tohu  

New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering(Trade) (Level 4) with strand in Maintenance Engineering

Graduates of the Maintenance Engineering strand will also be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of current and appropriate maintenance engineering techniques, technologies, strategies, and practices for their industry to monitor, inspect, maintain and repair facilities or plant and equipment ensuring reliability.
  • Read and interpret complex drawings and schematics to identify and remedy faults, and to contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement.
