Hello my name is Jonathan Kidd, I am 31 years old from the United Kingdom. I'm here in New Zealand on a working holiday visa from (08-07-24) for two years with the ability to extend my visa for one more year. My ultimate goal is to apply for a residency VISA and to stay here full time. I have been working as a chef for the better part of 15 years and I would really like a change in scenery. I’ve put my all into being a chef and just feel like it’s not rewarding me anymore. I’m having to work very unsociable hours which is effecting all of my evenings and weekends meaning that I’m not actually able to see much of NZ. I’d really like to try something new and have always loved the outdoors. I really enjoy hiking and as part of previous chef roles I have done lots of foraging. Working in a kitchen has really limited my outdoor time, I’d love to do something which will help and make a difference in this beautiful country.

This year, I have been given the opportunity to take on the role of a cook at a large Early Childhood centre, where I prepare and cook meals for up to 130 children daily, working alongside another chef. This experience has helped me build valuable skills such as working under pressure, working alone and thinking on my feet. This has been an excellent introduction to the workforce for me, but I am now seeking a position where I can grow further and build a career.
