This programme leads to the following graduate outcomes

1816-3 Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Maintain personal safety around machinery in the workplace.
  • Carry out routine and preventive maintenance in the workplace, including gauges and instruments, according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Prepare job components and make ready the machinery required to undertake production for binding and/or finishing as per customer specifications.
  • Run the machinery required to undertake production for binding and/or finishing.
  • Assist with maintaining quality standards through communication with colleagues, and undertake post production tasks to meet customer and workplace requirements.
  • Implement a range of basic technical production skills to support print finishing and bookbinding production process requirements.
  • Comply with workplace practices and apply communication and teamwork skills to a bindery and/or finishing operation

    1817-3 Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Prepare job components and make ready the machinery to undertake high level production tasks to meet customer requirements in one of the production areas of print finishing, machine bookbinding or hand bookbinding.
  • Produce highly specialised production tasks to meet customer requirements and industry standards, in one of the production areas of print finishing, machine bookbinding or hand bookbinding.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify faults and problems throughout the production process.
  • Assist with production planning including target setting, estimating production costs, and estimating production requirements.
  • Assist with quality assurance of production, and sustainable environmental practices, utilising preferred industry methods
