This programme leads to the following graduate outcomes

1969-2 Graduates of this qualification will be able to:-

  • Apply workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality requirements to solid wood manufacturing operations.

    Graduates of the Sawmilling strand will also be able to:
    ‍
  • Apply knowledge of the operation of sawmilling equipment, sawmill products and processes, cutting patterns and schedules relevant to sawmilling operations.
  • Operate machinery, equipment and technical processes to carry out tasks specific to sawmilling operations.

    2409-3 Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
    ‍
  • Apply knowledge of saw centre size control programme development and monitoring, to optimise timber and grade recovery.
  • Apply knowledge of investigative and costing skills to a wood manufacturing operation in solid wood manufacturing.
  • Maximise timber recovery during breakdown operations using automated, manual or semi-automated breakdown systems.
