Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of employee responsibilities, training needs and workplace risks to work safely and collaboratively in a team within a solid wood manufacturing environment.
- Apply knowledge of the physical characteristics of wood to ensure timber product quality.
Graduates of the Pole, Post and Pile strand will also to:
- Apply knowledge of log yards, log making, and chainsaw use, and phytosanitary requirements specific to pole, post and pile manufacturing.
- Operate machinery and equipment, and grade, sort and stack timber products in a pole, post and pile operation.
