Qualification detail

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the rail sector with graduates who have the skills and knowledge to coordinate trains and crew from a rail company operations centre.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

• Apply knowledge of rail transport services to the operation of a rail company operation centre
• Operate rail communication systems in a rail environment
• Apply knowledge of rail operations centre processes in a rail environment
• Contribute to the management of incidents, emergencies and special events in a rail environment.

Note: the Rail Yard Operations and Train Driver qualifications can be combined and completed as an apprenticeship.
