New Zealand Certificate in Wood Manufacturing

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the wood manufacturing industry with people who have the foundation skills and knowledge relevant to working in this industry.

Graduates of the Foundation Knowledge Strand will have a basic theoretical understanding of safety, environmental and quality requirements, as well as knowledge of operational processes, used in wood manufacturing.

Graduates of the Wood Handling and Distribution Strand will be capable of completing practical tasks required for entry-level roles in log or timber yard operations under general supervision.

Graduates of the Wood Processing Strand will be capable of completing a range of different basic practical tasks required for entry-level operational roles under general supervision.

  • Foundation knowledge: 40 credits, 12 months
  • Wood handing and distribution: 40 credits, 9 months
  • Wood processing: 41 credit, 10 months
