This employer is an industry leading logging & contracting company based out of Balclutha, Otago. They typically run 7-8 logging crews including ground based, cable & production thinning throughout Southland & Otago. There are also 2 workshops to support the fleet, including mulple log trucks, transporter units, bin truck & 6-wheelers.
They have been at the forefront of innovaon in the forestry industry with many world & NZ firsts over the last 35+ years, including the MHL Training School which takes on NZ Forestry Apprentices from all over NZ & provides a high industry standard of training & insight.
Key Responsibilities:
− Monitor and enforce health and safety policies and procedures on-site.
− Conduct regular safety audits and inspecons to ensure compliance with industry regulaons.
− Assist in the development and implementaon of safety training programs.
− Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities and incidents.
− Act as a liaison between management, employees, and regulatory bodies regarding health and safety maters.
− Ensure the correct reporting of accidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
− Support the creation of risk assessments and safe work practices.
− Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and best practices.
Other Responsibilities:
− Piloting of over dimension loads
− Heavy vehicle permitting
− Drone operation
− Consignment stock monitoring
Key Requirements:
− Knowledge of health and safety administration (preferably in a logging, contracting, or similar industry).
− Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
− Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
− Atenttion to detail and strong organizational abilities.
− Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
− Valid driver’s license.
Desirable Skills:
− Certificate or qualifications in Health & Safety Management.
− Experience with health and safety software or reporting tools.
− Literate in computer use including Excel, Word, etc
